Using Seva Stress Release with others will be practiced seated in chairs and lying on massage tables. After taking Parts 1 and 2 participants will have information and skills to practice using the Seva Stress Release protocol on themselves and with others. Fee: $45
Great Central Channel Monday, April 6, 2020, 6:30 – 9:30 pm
Seva Parts 1 and 2 are pre-requisites for this workshop. During this three-hour workshop participants will learn more about Chinese medicine, balancing yin and yang, two acupressure meridians (Governing and Conception Vessels) and the chakra system. Participants will learn and practice giving and receiving the Great Central Channel acupressure formula, which enhances and strengthens our grounding, stability, and whole being alignment between heaven and earth, discussed in Chinese medicine. This formula works closely with the spine and chakra system. Participants will also practice the Chakra Tai Chi movement meditation for self-care. Fee: $45
Head and Neck Formulas Monday, April 20, 2020, 6:30 – 9:30 pm
Seva Parts 1 and 2 are pre-requisites for this workshop. Chinese medicine looks for ways to bring into balance what is out of balance in our whole being. In our culture a high priority is placed on being able to think and respond quickly and clearly, not just intellectually, but physically, emotionally and spiritually. In this workshop participants will practice locating acupressure points, reading acupressure formulas, and giving and receiving a full acupressure session. Formulas presented will help open the pathways of communication between the head, neck, and body. Fee: $45
Back and Chest Monday, April 27, 2020, 6:30 – 9:30 pm
Seva Parts 1 and 2 are pre-requisites for this workshop. Many of the meridians and acupressure points described in Chinese medicine run through the front and back torso of the body. The majority of our physical processes are centered here. The back body carries much of our history and provides access to the nervous system through acupressure points along the spine and back body. Working with the back and chest works considers the Chinese medicine principle as above so below…as in front so behind. Formulas learned and practiced in this workshop will help bring a clearer, stronger flow of energy through the torso. Fee: $45

CLINICAL ACUPRESSURE 1: Basic Applications
October 1-4, 2020, 9 am – 5 pm, Manchester, NJ
October 15-18, 2020, 9 am – 5 pm, Syracuse, NY
Clinical Acupressure (CA) promotes wellness and rejuvenation by accessing and addressing the vital energies of the body. CA is derived from traditional acupressure, which uses touch on specific points to release and rebalance energy flows through the body. Specific point combinations are held with firm, gentle finger pressure as the body, mind and spirit return to balance. CA is not intended to replace medical care for serious conditions. However, those who receive this method report that it addresses common symptoms easily and effectively, with no harsh side effects. CA is can complement physical therapy, massage, or nursing. It also stands very well on its own. A full CA session takes about an hour, with the client fully dressed during the session. NOTE: Clinical Acupressure 1 and Process Acupressure 1A are course requirements for SLI Foundation Certification. For additional Foundation Certification information: www.soullightening.com. Fee: $695

Summer has arrived and here on the east coast we are experiencing welcome sun and expanded daylight as our gardens bloom and bring sights and scents that delight our whole being. Spring brought excitement for me as Acupressure for Anyone workshops continued to bring acupressure for self-care and with others to the Ocean County, NJ community. The Seva Acupressure for Self-care (Part 1) and Using Seva With Others (Part 2) provided opportunities for participants to practice giving and receiving this simple program for promoting relaxation and balance and reducing stress and anxiety, and a solid foundation for learning and experiencing four additional workshops offered in the Acupressure for Anyone series.
Spring also brought forth an amazing article, “Beyond Pills: Acupressure Impact on Self-Rated Pain and Anxiety Scores,” Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, Volume 25, Number 5, 2019, May 9, 2019, p. 1-5, Elizabeth Monson, MA, M, CRNP et al. This research revealed ”Acupressure is an effective tool to address escalating health care demands. This retrospective analysis has provided evidence that the Seva acupressure program is a nonpharmacologic tool that can effectively reduce pain and anxiety without adverse events…..and resulted in a high degree of participant satisfaction.” (http:do.org/10.1089/acm.2018.0422)
I look forward to meeting you at one of the upcoming workshops below.

Looking forward to bringing Acupressure for Anyone workshops to Ocean County, New Jersey this fall! Come learn simple self-care practices that will support your health and sense of well-being as you move through seasonal and life changes, and learn acupressure principles and programs you can use with friends, family, and clients. These programs have been developed to reduce stress, strengthen resilience, and enhance your ability to bounce back. The Seva Acupressure for Self-Care and the Seva Acupressure With Others programs have been successfully used at Towson State University with college students, Walter Reed Medical Center with military personnel, and for pain management with the first full facial transplant at the University of Maryland Medical Center (see www.soullightening.com Outreach & Research). I love the work of Soul Lightening Acupressure and the four basic principles of this work:
1. Energy flow in the body promotes wellness and opens new awareness.
2. Touch and the flow of love from the heart are healing and strengthening.
3. Every person carries their own healing and wisdom within.
4. The purpose of Soul Lightening Acupressure is to empower that inherent wisdom.
