Seva Acupressure for Self-Care (Part 1)  — Monday, March 18, 2019, 6:30 – 9:30 pm

This 3 hour workshop teaches how to use the Seva Stress Release program for self-care, addressing needs from general relaxation and well-being to shock and stress. Seva, in Sanskrit, means selfless, compassionate service. Seva Acupressure is simple to learn, easy to perform, and profoundly supportive for physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. Participants will: experience the healing and transformative power of acupressure; learn to use an Awareness Journal; learn a unique method of touch through demonstration and hands-on practice; and learn Chakra Tai Chi, a movement meditation practice. No prior bodywork experience needed. Seva Part One is a pre-requisite for Seva Part Two.  Fee: $45

Using Seva Acupressure With Others (Part 2) — Monday, April 1, 2019, 6:30 – 9:30 pm

This 3 hour workshop is Part 2 of our introductory training and builds upon skills learned in Part 1. The Seva Stress Release will be  practiced with others seated in chairs and lying on massage tables. After taking Parts 1 and 2 participants will have information and skills to practice on themselves and to use Seva for Stress Release with others. Fee: $45

Great Central Channel — Monday, April 15, 2019, 6:30 – 9:30 pm

Seva Parts 1 and 2 are pre-requisites for this workshop. Students will learn to read and use the Great Central Channel Alignment Formula, and will give and receive a full acupressure session. They will also practice Chakra Tai Chi movement meditation to help reduce stress, pain and anxiety, and boost resilience. This acupressure formula will enhance the ability to center, revitalize, and deepen connection with ourselves. Participants will gain greater understanding about Chinese Medicine, two meridians (Governing and Conception Vessels), the chakra system, and balancing yin and yang. Fee: $45

Harmony and Balance, Monday, April 29, 2019, 6:30 – 9:30 pm

Seva Parts 1 and 2 are pre-requisites for this workshop. The most fundamental principles of Chinese Medicine are based on establishing and maintaining balance and harmony throughout our whole being — body, mind, emotions, and spirit. This enables us to live life to the fullest in a healthy, vibrant manner. The acupressure formulas learned in this workshop will enhance a sense of well-being and strengthen the ability to manage challenges that arise in daily living. You will practice locating acupressure points and reading formulas and give and receive a full acupressure session. Fee: $45

Head and Neck Formulas — Monday, May 13, 2019

Seva Parts 1 and 2 are pre-requisites for this workshop. In our culture a high priority is placed on being able to think and respond quickly and clearly — not just intellectually, but physically, emotionally and spiritually as well. The free flow of energy in the head and neck is crucial for obtaining and maintaining clarity. In this workshop three acupressure formulas are introduced that will help open the pathways of communication between the head and the rest of the body. Participants will learn the Basic Neck Release, the Head Formula, and the Special Headache Release. Participants will give and receive a full acupressure session.  Fee: $45

Holiday Greetings for New Beginnings in 2019

            One of the prose poems that continues to bring significant insights and wisdom to me is Desiderata, which in Latin means desired things. Published in 1927 by American writer Max Ehrmann, the poem was largely unknown in his lifetime. Ehrmann was an attorney turned philosopher and poet who wrestled with making a living and following what he considered his calling — poetry, literature, and thought. Since his passing in 1945, Desiderata has been mentioned and quoted by many individuals including Adlai Stevenson, Leonard Nimoy, Joan Crawford, Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, and Morgan Freeman to mention a few. I bring it to you at this time with much gratitude for its continued teachings for me and understanding that as of a 1976 court decision it is now in the public domain. May it bring you new awareness and insights as we approach the beginning of 2019.

Desiderata”

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.
