Regina Rosenthal, PT, MA, received her Certificate in Physical Therapy from the University of Medicine and Dentistry, Newark, NJ in 1983, and a Master of Arts in Counselor Education from Kean University, Union, NJ in 1995. As part of her Master’s Thesis she designed and taught a “Chronic Pain Self-Help Class” from 1994-1999. Her initial undergraduate work at Baruch College, City University of New York, was completed in 1965, with a Bachelor of Science in Education, after which she taught high school business education.
Regina has worked in hospital, home care, and private practice settings. In 1991 she established her private physical therapy practice, Dimensions of Wellness, Inc. She was an instructor in the Facial Pain Clinic, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, in the Craniomandibular Disorders Program, from 1987 to 1996. She established and taught Stress Busters, a stress management program for clinic patients at this center. Regina has taught for the Arthritis Foundation of New Jersey (Self-Help Class), and has presented seminars nationwide for: American Cancer Society; Lever Brothers; Visiting Nurse Association of Trenton, New Jersey; American Rheumatism Association; New Jersey and New York Dental Associations; New Jersey Counselors Association; American Physical Therapy Association of New Jersey; Rutgers University, Edison, New Jersey; Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, New Jersey; CentraState Medical Center, Freehold, New Jersey; A T & T; and Baxter Health Care Corporation.
Regina was an instructor for Dialogues in Contemporary Rehabilitation, presenting Integrative Manual Therapy seminars to physical and occupational therapists, massage therapists, and health-care professionals nationally and internationally. She is an Advanced Practitioner and Instructor of Process Acupressure, a hands-on whole person approach to furthering health, well-being, and soul-centered development. This approach combines acupressure with energy pathways defined in Chinese and Indian medicine.
Post-graduate manual therapy training has included: craniosacral therapy; energy medicine; Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement®; lymphatic mobilization; myofascial release; neural tissue mobilization; Process Accupressure; strain-counterstrain; the Trager® Approach; visceral mobilization; and Zero Balancing.
In her new book, The Heart of Healing: Discovering the Secrets of Self-Care, readers will discover seven universal themes encountered during healing; expand awareness about healing as a journey of growth and development; and learn how to be active, empowered participants in any healing process by using simple body-mind Self-care practices that accompany each chapter.
Regina resides with her husband near the New Jersey shore. She continues to teach, write, spend time with family, garden, knit, and become present with the heart of healing as it emerges in individuals she works with in her private practice.
