Acupressure Workshops 2019

Summer has arrived and here on the east coast we are experiencing welcome sun and expanded daylight as our gardens bloom and bring sights and scents that delight our whole being. Spring brought excitement for me as Acupressure for Anyone workshops continued to bring acupressure for self-care and with others to the Ocean County, NJ community. The Seva Acupressure for Self-care (Part 1) and Using Seva With Others (Part 2)  provided opportunities for participants to practice giving and receiving this simple program for promoting relaxation and balance and reducing stress and anxiety, and a solid foundation for learning and experiencing four additional workshops offered in the Acupressure for Anyone series.

Spring also brought forth an amazing article, “Beyond Pills: Acupressure Impact on Self-Rated Pain and Anxiety Scores,” Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, Volume 25, Number 5, 2019, May 9, 2019, p. 1-5, Elizabeth Monson, MA, M, CRNP et al. This research revealed  ”Acupressure is an effective tool to address escalating health care demands. This retrospective analysis has provided evidence that the Seva acupressure program is a nonpharmacologic tool that can effectively reduce pain and anxiety without adverse events…..and resulted in a high degree of participant satisfaction.” (http:do.org/10.1089/acm.2018.0422)

I look forward to meeting you at one of the upcoming workshops below.

This 3 hour workshop teaches how to use the Seva Stress Release program for self-care, addressing needs from general relaxation and well-being to shock and stress. Seva, in Sanskrit, means selfless, compassionate service. Seva Acupressure is simple to learn, easy to perform, and profoundly supportive for physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. Participants will: experience the healing and transformative power of acupressure; learn to use an Awareness Journal; learn a unique method of touch through demonstration and hands-on practice; and learn Chakra Tai Chi, a movement meditation practice. HARMONY AND BALANCE – Monday, November 11, 2019, 6:30 – 9:30 pm

Seva Parts 1 and 2 are pre-requisites for this workshop. This enables us to live life to the fullest in a healthy, vibrant manner. The acupressure formulas learned in this workshop will enhance a sense of well-being and strengthen the ability to manage challenges that arise in daily living. HEAD AND NECK FORMULAS – Monday, November 18, 2019, 6:30 – 9:30 pm

Seva Parts 1 and 2 are pre-requisites for this workshop. In our culture a high priority is placed on being able to think and respond quickly and clearly — not just intellectually, but physically, emotionally and spiritually as well. The free flow of energy in the head and neck is crucial for obtaining and maintaining clarity. In this workshop three acupressure formulas are introduced that will help open the pathways of communication between the head and the rest of the body. Participants will learn the Basic Neck Release, Head Formula, and Special Headache Release. Participants will give and receive a full acupressure session.  Fee: $45

COLDS AND FLU: THE IMMUNE SYSTEM – Monday, December 2, 2019, 6:30 – 9:30 pm

Seva Parts 1 and 2 are pre-requisites for this workshop.  Our ability to stay healthy is directly related to the vitality and health of our energy systems. When strong and vital our ability to ward off unwanted external influences (physical, mental, emotional, spiritual) is enhanced.
